hummingbird and willow flower on monotype fabric background with trisha too

Well, you can see I'm not feeling particularly creative today with the title, but at least you know what you're going to find, right?  First let me show you the crackle--I do love a nice texture, and this effect is on all the chipboard in this "canvas":
Pretty, right?  It's several color of metallic paints, with a rose antiquing cream over the crackle finish, all from DecoArt.
The background is a monotype print on a piece of cotton fabric, created using a Gelli plate with SoSoft fabric paints, and adhered to the cover of an old book:
The sentiment stamp is from Red Lead . . .
Here is a close up of the Wildwood Flower--I was impressed how the laser cut detail still showed, even after two layers of paint, a layer of crackle finish, and the antiquing cream!

You'll find the Hummingbird HERE
The large Wildwood Flower HERE
The smaller Willow Flower HERE  (this one was trimmed a little--don't be afraid to cut your chipboard to fit your project)

Thank you for stopping by the Leaky Shed Studio today!

a peeky Easter egg--you know, like a sugar egg? with trisha too

I loved sugar eggs when I was a child--you know the kind I mean?  Made of pure sugar, with little Easter scenes inside.  They seemed magical.

So here's my paper person type version:
Spring Butterfly Small--3 pack!

luminescent metallic paint

It rests on a wooden spool pedestal, and is full of roses.  If you'd like a quick how-to, there is more information available on my blog.

Thank you for stopping by the Leaky Shed Studio, and have a wonderful Thursday!

palette paper Valentines--trisha too

So in my last post, I was experimenting with using some Leaky Shed Studio chipboard as masks in monoprints, using my Gelli Plate and acrylic paints.  When I print, I generally just use a sheet of paper for my palette--it's some random paper picked up somewhere over the years, and it has a coating on it, so it doesn't readily absorb paints or inks.  Since it's almost Valentine's Day, I used the leftover "palette paper" as patterned paper, and the already painty Leaky Shed Studio chipboard pieces as embellishments, to create some Valentines:
Swirl Vine, strategically trimmed
The chipboard matched the paper, of course, since it had been used in the same paints.
Swirl Vine Corner, with added bling
The palette paper is adhered to some heavy cardstock, cut to fit inside a business sized envelope.
the rest of that Swirl Vine Corner!
Don't be afraid to paint your Leaky Shed chips--they're incredibly sturdy.  And, like I did here, consider cutting the chips to fit where you want them--there are some very versatile Swirls and Flourishes.

Have a wonderful week, everyone!

Leaky Shed Studio and BoBunny Team Up: Naughty or Nice????

Leaky Shed Studio and BoBunny are teaming up the entire month of December to bring Holiday Inspiration to your home.
Are you a list maker?  I am, especially at Christmas--here I've created some Naughty Or Nice notebooks for little gifties for my friends.  The Bo Bunny Candy Cane Lane papers + Leaky Shed Studio chipboard 6x6 Bracket album = perfect for SIX sweet pressies!

First, I chop each large chipboard album page in half, leaving one hole in each half.  Next, adhere some of the gorgeous coordinating Bo Bunny paper to one side--allow to dry, cut out, lightly sand any rough edges smooth, and repeat on the other side of the notebook cover with a coordinating Candy Cane Lane paper.

Now let's make it pretty--add some Bo Bunny Pebbles Cream Chalks and Pearlescent Chalks around the edges?  Oh yes, thank you, I believe I will!
A LSS Merry Christmas Tree,

and some LSS Snowflakes, too.

Oh and plenty of glitter--Bo Bunny has a decadant Gold Glitter Paste, SO rich and sparkly, and easy to work with, too.

Well, my bloggy friends, I'm cutting you off at two Christmas goodies this post--don't forget to add some list-making paper to the little books.  I tied mine with a little bit of tulle:

Check back with us all month for more inspirational Holiday projects. We have a BoBunny Prize Pack to give away to one of our lucky commenters, so check out our blog and FB postings!
If you are on Pinterest, check out the special Pinterest Board that we have created for this swap.  Re-pin some of your favorite projects for an extra chance to win our BoBunny Prize Pack!

an Orient Express altered book layout (and a little bit of Alice) with trisha too

Right now, I have two altered books that I'm actively working in.  Well, okay, sporadically working in, but more actively than others . . . the first layout is from an Orient Express themed altered book.  (Yes, really-- the railway line, train, Orient Express!)

The last stop on the Orient Express was Istanbul, Turkey:
The Moroccan Border seemed the perfect accent for this layout, which I painted and cut to fit (there are two long strips per pack, so PLENTY to work with).  Leaky Shed Studio has some gorgeous Eastern influenced chippies, including the Moroccan Frame to match this border.

Check this out--I actually started this book a year or two ago, and specifically chose it because of the Eastern influence motif on the cover.  Here is the back:
Do these go well together or what??
I have a several more layouts in mind for this stop on the Orient Express, some with real photos, as my daughter and I were in Istanbul a couple of summers ago.
The LSS Arabian Balcony and Arabian Border are definitely up for a future appearance, probably with some Topkapi Palace pics.

Today, I will leave you with Alice--she's the theme of the other, aforementioned, altered book, and this layout has already appeared on my personal blog:
(You can find tall Alice on the LSS site as Alice Long Neck.)

Here's wishing you a wonderful weekend, everyone!

an Autumn necklace and a butterfly canvas

Today, my bloggy friends, you get two chippy projects for the price of one visit:

Just look at the Leaky Shed Studio Autumn Leaf Crown--isn't it gorgeous? (Just so you know, anything bold print is a link.)
While this is obviously perfect for some lovely fall and harvest themed layouts and cards, it immediately made me think of a necklace--it's 4 inches across, a perfect size:
Leaky Shed chipboard colors up fabulously with chalks!!!

Add some pearly and metallic chalks, a chain, and some charms--voila!  A pretty autumn pendant.

Also, I recently did a 6x6 canvas for my column at Unruly Paper Arts, a painty piece featuring the Leaky Shed Studio Large Ring Frame.  However,  I want to give it to my aunt, who loves butterflies, so I added the Large Spring Butterfly and two of the Small Spring Butterflies (they come in a three pack):

Have a happy, creative Saturday, everyone!

cat

"Beware of people who dislike cats."  --Irish Proverb

Are you a cat person?  We have a whole family of them--more minions to do the family feline's bidding, I suppose.  Naturally, when I saw all the Leaky Shed cat chipboard, well, something catty had to happen . . .

This is another origami wallet fold mini album, with stitched cover.  Each pocket contains at least one tag, with a quote about cats on either side.  One of the advantages of this simple book form is, by tying several tags together, each pocket can easily contain it's own small book or album.

"Happy is the home with at least one cat."

You will find all the Leaky Shed Studio cats used in this mini book HERE, a few more cat shapes, as well.  Want to know see more?  Please check out the photos and information on my blog, easily amused, hard to offend.

Happy Saturday, everyone!

A notepad to fit my purse--Celebrate Life!

My purse is on the small size right now (okay, yes, I have a LOT of purses), AND it's an odd shape.  So what do you do when you can't find what you want?  Make it yourself, of course!
The front and back covers are from one plate out of the 6x6 Bracket Album, sliced down the middle, and covered with map paper.  A little ink, a little crayon, a rub-on . . .
And of course the Hot Air Balloon, also covered with ink and crayon.
Simply cute some paper to fit the inside, hole punched, and added the ring with some tulle.
This was so easy to make, I'm thinking it would be a good thing to make en masse and give as little gifties, along with a fun pen or two?  And the album comes with SIX of the covers, plus a little one!

Thank you for stopping by my first every Leaky Shed Studio post, and have a wonderful Wednesday, everyone!
