Hunting Layout by April Guest Designer Wendy Reaux

We are delighted to introduce our
April Guest Designer
Wendy Reaux!

I have always enjoyed scrapbooking, even before it was cool.  I grew up in a small town in South Texas, where I remember being part of the dance team and making signs for the doors at camp.  We would decorate them with cute little dancing girls . . . pleated skirts and all.  Those were the days before cool die-cuts, embellishments and really cool chipboard!

I have taught scrapbook classes for the past 6 years, and most recently I am teaching classes through Create 365 in Lafayette, LA.  I teach camps to tweens' and teens during the holidays and summers, and in my spare time I enjoy scrapbooking for clients.  I have made books for Mardi Gras queens, boys, girls, teens, vacations and so much more.  I also make scrapbook kits to sell and have been asked to design kits for cropping events.

I'm a mother of 2 active boys.  I have a super supportive husband; he gets my hobby and the love that I have for it.  I now call south Louisiana my home.  I have a degree in Hospitality Management and my second degree was in Elementary Education. I also own a small business where I teach preschool computer lessons at privately owned schools, preschools, and mothers' day out programs.  I teach from the little bitty's to grown adults, and I love every minute of it!

Hi there all you scrapbookers. My name is Wendy Reaux.  I’ll never forget my first conversation with Wendy. We had the most fun conversation about her wonderful chipboard! I just love the pieces that she sells. Here's a two-page layout I've created with some of her gorgeous chipboard pieces.

"Hunting"

We have lots of duck hunting down in south Louisiana, so I just knew that her ducks were a must have.  I have done everything possible to chipboard to change its appearance…such as heat embossing, crackle painting, Crackle Accents to name a few.

I wanted to make this look like a real duck.  So think about products that can help your chipboard come to life.  All I have done here is use a very “juicy” (brand new) Jumbo Java VersaMagic ink pad.  This is a scrapbooking necessity.  I keep them until they're dead.  I use the new ones to cover chipboard and the old ones to ink edges of layouts, for a more subtle look.  I then adhered a small duck feather right where the wing would be.  It’s as easy as that.

I have recently used the cute cooking utensils in a scrapbook class taught at Create 365 in Lafayette, LA.  Details for this layout can be seen on my blog at www.wendyroo.blogspot.com. I heat embossed the wire whisk with WOW embossing powder and I painted the rolling pen with Claudine Hellmuth acrylic paint. When dry, I took my Jumbo Java and inked the handles of the rolling pen to add a dimensional look.
